Miss Mexico

Fatima Bosch, Miss Mexico
The incident occurred when an organizer of the pageant, which is taking place in Thailand, criticized and insulted Miss Mexico because her delegation had not published promotional content. Several other participants left the room in solidarity.
Several candidates left a Miss Universe event after an official from the host country, Thailand, publicly reprimand Miss Mexico during a tense ceremony.
On the occasion, the director of Miss Universe Thailand, Nawat Itsaragrisil, drew the attention of Fatima Bosch (Miss Mexico) in front of dozens of participants for her not having published promotional content.
Upon reacting, Bosch was interrupted with shouts, and Itsaragrisil requested the presence of security guards, threatening disqualify anyone who supported it. The Mexican left the room, followed by other candidates in solidarity.
The episode, broadcast live, went viral on social media. The Miss Universe Organization condemned Itsaragrisil’s “malicious” behavior, who later apologized.
The participants, winners of competitions from their countries, wore sashes and formal dresses at Tuesday’s event. In the video, you can hear them retorting when the director raises his voice and insists that Bosch “stop talking“.
Upon seeing several competitors standing in support of the Mexican, Itsaragrisil said: “Whoever wants to continue in the contest, sit down. If you leave, the rest of the girls will remain.” Even so, most remained standing, and some headed towards the exit.
After the incident, Bosch told the press that the 60-year-old executive “was not respectful” and called her “stupid”. Itsaragrisil denies this and claims that his words were misinterpreted.
According to the local press, the organizer used the expression “hollow head“.In a later interview, however, he claimed that he meant that she had caused “damage”.
The Thai’s conduct provoked a harsh response from the Miss Universe Organization, which sent an international team to take over the organization of the competition.
In a video, the president of the Miss Universe Organization, Raul Rocha, stated that Itsaragrisil “forgot the true meaning of being a host” and “humiliated, insulted and showed a lack of respect” towards Bosch, in addition to committing the “serious abuse” of calling security guards to intimidate “a defenseless woman”.
Rocha also said that the Thai leader’s participation will be “limited as much as possible” or “completely eliminated” and announced that the Miss Universe Organization will take “legal measures” against him.
“I reiterate that Miss Universe is a female empowerment platform so that women’s voices are heard in the world”, he declared.
Among those who left the event was the current Miss Universe, Victoria Kjaer Theilvig, from Denmark. “It’s about women’s rights“, said Theilvig as he left. “This is not how things should be run. Humiliating another woman is the height of lack of respect… So I took my coat and left.”
In an interview, Bosch (Miss Mexico) stated: “I want my country to know that I am not afraid to make my voice heard. It is stronger than ever. I have a purpose, I have things to say.”
“We are in the 21st century. I am not a doll to be made up, done with hair and clothes changed”, he added. “I came here to be the voice of all the women and girls fighting for causes and to tell my country that I am fully committed to this.”
In a statement on social media, Itsaragrisil stated: “If anyone felt bad, uncomfortable or affected, I apologize to everyoneespecially the approximately 75 girls who were present.”
Despite the controversy, the competition went ahead, with the candidates taking part in a welcome event in Bangkok on Wednesday.
The winner will be crowned Miss Universe 2025 on 11/21.
