Government speaks out about tornado in Paraná

The Minister of Regional Integration and Development, Waldez Góes, spoke about the tornado that hit the interior of Paraná on Friday (7). To date, five deaths and 130 injuries have been confirmed in the city of Rio Bonito de Iguaçu.

“I express all our solidarity with the families of Rio Bonito do Iguaçu (PR), affected by the cyclone, and the other municipalities in Paraná affected by the storms. I am already in contact with mayors Sezar Bovino and Jaison (Laranjeiras do Sul) advising on the procedures for the emergency situation decree“, he wrote.

Under the guidance of President Lula, and in conjunction with Minister Gleisi Hoffman, we are dealing with humanitarian aid planssending teams and supporting reconstruction actions. The federal government remains in full readiness to support city halls and guarantee immediate assistance to the population,” he continued.

A tornado hit Paraná on Friday (7). To date, at least five deaths have been confirmed and 130 people have been injured, according to the State Civil Defense.

The information that the meteorological phenomenon, which devastated the municipality of Rio Bonito do Iguaçu, is a tornado was confirmed by Simepar (Paraná Environmental Technology and Monitoring System), which classified the occurrence late this Friday afternoon (7).
