It was a delicacy on noble tables. The most delicate of meats, like medicine for the heart and eyesight

Chicken and turkey are very popular in Polish cuisine, but we seem to forget about other birds that Poles once eagerly ate – quails, for example. They used to be a symbol of luxury, a real rarity that appeared on aristocratic tables, but not every day, but rather on special occasions.

What is the situation today? Quail meat is still a real delicacy, but you can’t get it immediately in your favorite discount stores. However, you can buy them in well-stocked butcher shops, as well as online. The price is of course not low, but customers often want to try something unique, and quail works perfectly here.

Quail meat it is not only delicious, but also has considerable health value and can support the functioning of almost the entire body. Who should eat quail meat? It can be safely said that this is a good product for virtually everyone.

First of all, it is meat rich in easily digestible protein, which will certainly be of particular interest to physically active people. The fact that quail meat is low-calorie makes it a very good product also on a reducing diet. The content of vitamin A is also of great importance, thanks to which quail meat has a very beneficial effect on the appearance of hair, skin and nails. Vitamin A also supports visual health. It is also worth eating quail meat for bone health – it has a large amount of calcium and phosphorus.

Quail meat also has a positive effect on the regulation of cholesterol in the blood and is also recommended for people suffering from iron deficiency.

Delicate in taste, juicy quail meat has many supporters – this subtle taste does not require complicated processing to pamper the palate.

Traditionally, quails were baked whole, stuffed with groats or mushrooms, with the addition of aromatic herbs. You can also safely stew them in cream, wine or broth with vegetables.

According to modern regulations, quail can be served, for example, baked with herbs and garlic butter. It is also often served with root vegetables and fruit-based sauces – quail in cranberries tastes extremely delicate. You can also simply bake quail legs, just like chicken legs. Remember, however, that quail is baked for a shorter time than chicken.
