Politicians’ salaries have so far only been increased in Upper Austria; Ludwig remains the top earner

Vienna/Austria – Like the federal government, most federal states are decreeing a zero wage round for top politicians for the coming year. Only Upper Austria takes a different approach, where politicians’ salaries will be increased by 3.3 percent from July. There is still no decision in Vienna and Burgenland. In any case, Vienna’s mayor Michael Ludwig remains the top earner among the state governors, while his Burgenland counterpart Hans Peter Doskozil (both SPÖ) is at the bottom of the salary table.
