Federal deputy Zucco (PL–RS) classified the preparations for the event as a ‘scandal’ and ‘mismanagement and internationalized corruption’
The leader of the opposition in the National Congress, is articulating the opening of a Joint Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry (CPMI) to investigate alleged irregularities in the organization of the. In a video released on his social networks this Monday (10), the parliamentarian classified the preparations for the event as a “scandal” and a “symbol of waste, mismanagement and internationalized corruption”.
At the center of the complaint is the Organization of Ibero-American States (OEI), a Spanish NGO hired by the federal government to organize events related to the climate summit. According to the deputy, the OEI has already received around R$1 billion in contracts without bidding, through an “international technical cooperation” mechanism.
The parliamentarian states that, despite the high values, the organization of events prior to COP30 has been a “real fiasco”, marked by precarious structures and abusive prices. He points out that OEI acts as a “middleman for public contracts”, subcontracting “government-friendly companies” and retaining fees of up to 10% on values.
He informed that he has already filed a representation with the in March, asking for the suspension of transfers and the investigation of the scheme. According to the opposition leader, the process, reported by minister Bruno Dantas, has already shown “strong signs of overpricing”.
Faced with the worsening of complaints, the deputy resumed collecting signatures for the installation of the CPMI, stating that he already had around 100 supporters. “We are going to the end of this investigation, because public money is sacred and whoever uses it criminally needs to be held accountable,” he concluded.
