According to the Federal Police, the total seized is 249.4 kilos of skunk, a more potent variation with greater commercial value than regular marijuana. The calculation of the damage to crime was also revised: the material, previously valued at R$1 million, is now estimated at R$2.4 million.

“It is not common marijuana. It was identified by the PF that it is skunk. Considering that each kilo is sold for approximately 10 thousand reais, the loss for the crime was R$ 2,486,000 (Two million, four hundred and eighty-six thousand reais)”, explained Captain Thales Campos, deputy commander of the Military Police in Vale do Juruá.
The operation that resulted in the seizure of the drugs was carried out in an integrated manner between the Military Police, the Integrated Air Operations Center (Ciopaer) and the Special Border Group (Gefron). The action involved the use of helicopters and boats, after intelligence information indicated that a group was transporting narcotics from Peru to Brazil.

During the action, the military intercepted the vessel used by the criminals. Three men managed to escape through the woods, but two have already been identified, one of which has a record of homicide.
Colonel Assis, coordinator of Gefron in Acre, highlighted the importance of joint work between security forces.
“We had been following this movement for some time. When the criminals heard the helicopter, they abandoned the drugs in the woods, but Ciopaer’s people managed to identify the location and passed the information on to the team on the boat, who managed to locate and seize all the material”, he reported.
The images recorded by the helicopter show the moment when aerial monitoring was carried out over the Juruá River. All the drugs were sent to the Federal Police headquarters, which is continuing investigations into international drug trafficking in the border region.
