The management of the Portuguese Association of Football Referees met urgently this Monday with Pedro Proença. At issue were the recent refereeing episodes and the clubs’ attacks on referees.
A Portuguese Association of Football Referees is concerned about the pressure clubs put on referees and expressed this concern to the President of the Portuguese Football Federation. The referees’ representatives asked Pedro Proença for measures to reinforce the respect and dignity of judges on Portuguese pitches.
In a statement, the association describes the climate of recent weeks as intimidating and a growing feeling of impunity on the part of some club representatives.
The referees also intend to see a set of measures implemented in the Disciplinary Regulations for professional competitions, which severely punish anyone who disrupts the stability of the sector.
This Wednesday, there is a press conference by the Arbitration Council. Luciano Gonçalves and Duarte Gomes take stock of the first ten rounds. The controversial games between e which concern matchday 11, should also be addressed.
