According to the councilor, there is an attempt to “manufacture a new right-wing man” to occupy the space of political leadership opened up by the removal of the former president.
“It is the explicit endorsement of all estvpros [sic] constitutional acts already committed — a spectacle worthy of Venezuela’s worst phase,” he wrote.
Process advances to final stage
In the virtual session, ministers Flávio Dino, Cristiano Zanin and Cármen Lúcia followed rapporteur Alexandre de Moraes’ vote and denied Jair Bolsonaro’s appeal.
The challenges presented by Alexandre Ramagem, Almir Garnier, Anderson Torres, Augusto Heleno, Paulo Sérgio Nogueira and Braga Netto, all convicted in the same case, were also rejected.
With the end of the analysis, the Supreme Court must now publish the ruling, which formalizes the decision. After publication, the defense will be able to present another appeal within five days.
If this occurs, there will be a new virtual trial. Only then can the final judgment be declared, a stage that definitively ends the possibility of contestation.

Serving sentence
After the final ruling, it will be up to Moraes to decide how Bolsonaro will begin serving his sentence. The beginning of compliance can be determined in a closed regime, but experts believe that the stay in prison will be short, citing the case of former president Fernando Collor, transferred to home regime after a week in detention.
Bolsonaro’s defense also maintains that the 70-year-old former president has health problems resulting from the 2018 stabbing, which could ease the way in which the sentence is served.
