Rio Branco leads the fall in unemployment among young adults and exceeds the national average

Rio Branco recorded one of the biggest reductions in unemployment among young adults in the country in the last three years, according to an analysis of microdata from PNAD Contínua (IBGE). The advance puts the capital of Acre ahead of the national average, and also of Acre’s general performance in the same range.

According to the data released, between the second quarter of 2022 and the third quarter of 2025, the unemployment rate among people aged 25 to 39 fell from 14.3% to 6.1%, a reduction of 56.6%. The rate of decline exceeds that of Brazil, which was 37.3%, and that of the state, which was 33.9%.

From 2025 onwards, Rio Branco even began to perform better than Acre within the historical series, something that had not occurred in previous surveys for this age group.

Projections indicate that, if the current pace is maintained, Rio Branco could reach the national unemployment average for the 25 to 39 year old group within six quarters, a scenario that would consolidate a historic change in the local job market.

According to Mayor Tião Bocalom, the data reflects the impact of continuous planning of works and services. “The job market is booming. There are companies even hiring workers from other cities because demand has increased. We have always argued that when the city hall invests and maintains the pace of construction, jobs and income appear. The numbers prove that Rio Branco is advancing”, he stated.
