Twelve people, including nine children, died overnight in a family house fire in a small village in the south of Kazakhstan. the Kazakh news agency Tengrinews reported on Tuesday. From a burning building the rescuers managed to free three unconscious people, the emergency services said. TASR informs about it according to the DPA report.
The incident occurred in Algabas, a remote village in the Almaty region in the far south of the country. The flames allegedly engulfed a two-story residential building there, in which, according to local residents, a large number of people were supposed to be after a celebration during the fire.
Firefighters finally managed to put out the fire, and investigators are simultaneously investigating the cause of the tragedy. Kazakh President Kasym-Žomart Tokayev expressed his condolences to the survivors and promised support to the families of the victims of the accident.
