Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelenskyy will visit Turkey on Wednesday to try to “revive” the peace talks, he announced this on social networks on Tuesday. According to him, Ukraine’s priority is to do everything to end the war. TASR reports on this according to the AFP agency and Zelensky’s post on the X network.
“We are preparing to revive negotiations and have developed solutions that we will propose to our partners. Ukraine’s main priority is to do everything possible to bring the end of the war closer. At the same time, we are working to restore the exchange of prisoners and return our soldiers home,” wrote.
Turkey hosted three rounds of direct negotiations between Russia and Ukraine this year. According to the BBC, these talks about ending the war in Ukraine did not bring any breakthroughs. Basically, the parties only agreed on the exchange of prisoners of war, which they subsequently carried out.
Since Sunday, Zelensky has been touring European states in an attempt to garner support for his army and damaged energy infrastructure. On Sunday, he signed an agreement on gas supplies with Greece, and on Monday he met French President Emmanuel Macron in Paris, with whom he signed an agreement on the intention to purchase Rafale fighter jets and other military equipment from France. On Tuesday, Zelenskyi will visit Spain, where he will meet with King Philip VI, Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez and members of parliament.
