The police consider the shooting accidental, but the investigation is ongoing (are they going to charge the dog with attempted murder?). And although this type of incident may seem like a genuine joke, it is real and is not an isolated case.

A 53-year-old man from Pennsylvania, USA, is recovering in hospital this week after being accidentally shot by his own dog. Incredible as it may seem, the unusual incident it is not isolated (or anything new).

According to Shillington police, cited by , officers were called last Tuesday night following a report of a man with a gunshot wound to the back. When they arrived, they found the victim conscious, lying on the floor, but able to explain the ‘madness’ that had just happened.

The man said that he was cleaning his shotgun and that, as he sat down on the bed, one of his dogs jumped onto the mattress and fell directly onto the gun, which was fired, hitting the victim in the back. Injured, he was immediately transported by paramedics to a nearby hospital, where he underwent surgery. You will still need another operation.
