PF takes action in DF against transnational migrant smuggling scheme

To PF (Federal Police) carried out an operation against a transnational criminal organization specializing in migrant smugglingthis Wednesday morning (19), in Brasília (DF). According to investigations, the scheme had ramifications in Brazil and connections with countries such as Pakistan, Afghanistan, Mexico and the United States.

The investigation, which included the cooperation of international agencies, revealed the existence of a criminal cell operating in Brasília and .

According to the police, the migrants were and, later, taken via land and sea routes to the Mexican border, from where they clandestinely entered US territory.

In the action, search and seizure warrants, blocking and kidnapping of assets were executed, in addition to the temporary arrest of the main person under investigation in the scheme, all in the Federal District.

In addition to the warrants, passports were also confiscated and the movement of the people under investigation was restricted. In total, the Federal Court authorized the blocking of financial assets, properties, vehicles, vessels, aircraft and cryptoassets totaling an estimated value of R$5.94 million.
