  • After the Russian attack on Ternopil, 22 people and 26 victims are missing.
  • Rescue operations include more than 230 rescuers from 9 regions of Ukraine.
  • The attack seriously damaged the buildings, which makes search operations difficult.

  • The attack is among the deadliest in western Ukraine since the invasion.

“Our rescuers worked all night in Ternopil, search and rescue operations continue. 22 people are missing – efforts to find them continue,” wrote the Ukrainian president and published images from the scene of the attack showing the destroyed building and ongoing rescue operations.

Zelensky clarified that more than 230 rescuers from nine regions of Ukraine were deployed in the operation. “In some parts it is only possible to work by hand due to the severe damage and fragmentation of the structures. This makes the search difficult,” he stated.

The president claims that 26 victims, including three children, have been confirmed so far. The Interior Ministry said on Wednesday after the attack that more than 70 people were injured, including 15 children. This is one of the deadliest Russian attacks in western Ukraine since the beginning of the invasion in February 2022, writes the AFP agency.

Russian forces have been attacking Ukrainian territory daily for more than three and a half years, and with the approach of winter they have intensified attacks on energy infrastructure. Ukraine responds with attacks on oil depots, refineries and other targets in Russia.
