Zdenka Predná sent a message to Slovaks: Half of the nation is fanaticized by one and the other… Strong words!

A gulf between people has appeared in Slovakia in recent months. Both the coalition and the opposition repeatedly call for the easing of tensions. On the 36th anniversary of the Gentle Revolution the singer Zdenka Predná spoke to her followers on the social network about this topic.

“You know that I don’t comment much on politics. It doesn’t do any good when half the nation is fanatical in one direction and the other in the other, but I don’t want to be in either camp. I want to live a normal, simple life where I can speak my mind without being lynched. Everyone thinks they are right, but the truth has us. Let’s try to listen to each other, maybe we’ll find that we all want the same thing. Peace, love and freedom,” she bequeathed to Slovaks. You can find a PHOTO of her post in the gallery.

The name of the former superstar was frequently used in connection with politics, especially in the past period. The reason was new the national anthem, behind which her husband and composer Oskar Rózsa stands. Many people were angered by his harsh words addressed to part of the public and also by the reward of 20,000 euros for his work.

“I’m not doing that anthem for you. You still haven’t understood that it’s not your anthem. It’s an anthem for a whole different group of people. And believe that there are significantly, several times more than you. No matter how loud you scream. Your time is running short. So, I’m begging you, crawl into your holes and give us a break,” he declared in a video that went viral on the Internet.

At that time, the preliminary costs of editing the anthem were estimated at 46,000 euros. The singer couldn’t do it and decided to recalculate what this amount means per inhabitant of Slovakia. According to her calculations, the Slovaks paid 0.00921 euros each, of which 0.00368 euros goes to Rózs’s fee.

“And who has an unshakable feeling that they don’t want to put their money on the anthem…no problem…send me the account number and I’ll send you your money from the kitchen, you can also send it forward,” she called back in November last year. Slovaks heard the new version of the anthem for the first time on the broadcasts of Slovak Television and Slovak Radio in the first minutes of 2025.
