Singer Donald Glover reveals he suffered a stroke during his 2024 tour

When he canceled his “New World Tour”, the 42-year-old American rapper said he had a health emergency, but kept the reason secret until now.

Singer and actor Donald Glover revealed over the weekend, on stage at the Camp Flog Gnaw festival, in Los Angeles, in the United States, that he had suffered a stroke that forced the interruption of his 2024 tour.

When he canceled his “New World Tour”, the 42-year-old American rapper said he had a health emergency, but kept the reason secret until now, revealing that suffered a stroke during one of the shows.

Glover, who performs under the stage name Childish Gambino, said: “I had a really bad headache in Louisiana and I did the show anyway. I couldn’t see well, so when we went to Houston I was in the hospital and the doctor said I had had a stroke.”

The musician said he felt he was disappointing the public, regretting not having gone to Ireland yet and also adding that he had found “a hole” in his heart, and that he had to undergo two surgeries.

“They say everyone has two lives and that the second life begins when we realize we have one,” Donald Glover said on stage, adding: “You have one life, and I have to be honest. The life I’ve lived with you has been a blessing.”

The “New World Tour” – which the musician, writer and comedian said was the final chapter of the “Childish Gambino” persona – held 18 shows out of the 50 initially planned.
