With oil like Brent remaining below the US$ 65 per barrel, gasoline in Brazil is more expensive than on the international market, providing an opportunity for fuel importers, while diesel remains cheaper than abroad, according to data from Abicom (Brazilian Association of Fuel Importers).
A Petrobrasresponsible for 80% of refining in the country, reduced gasoline by 4.9% in October, but has kept the price of diesel in its refineries frozen for 205 days.
I and Acelenwhich controls the Mataripe Refinery, in Bahia, with 14% of the market, makes weekly adjustments and reduced the price of gasoline by R$0.02 per liter last week, but increased diesel by R$0.07 per liter.
In relation to the international market, the average price of diesel at Petrobras refineries is 10% behind, which could generate an increase of R$0.31 per liter, while the price of gasoline is 5% above that practiced in the international market, which could generate a drop of R$0.13 per liter.
On average for Brazilian refineries, diesel is 8% cheaper in Brazil than abroad and gasoline is 5% more expensive.
