Known for bringing together athletes of smaller stature, the 212 category is one of the strongest in Brazil. The country has at least one representative within the top 10 of the Olympia – the most renowned bodybuilding championship in the world – in every edition of the tournament since 2022. One of the highlights of this division is Fabrício Moreira, who was ninth best in the world in 2023.
In an interview with the column, the “Giant Killer” – a nickname that means “giant killer” in Portuguese and jokes about the athlete’s height – states that he is certain that he can once again be the best Brazilian in the category – a position that, today, is occupied by Lucas Garcia, currently third place in Olympia.
“I’m sure [de que posso voltar a ser considerado o melhor fisiculturista brasileiro na 212]. If I bring what I need, which is more muscle in the lower back and glutes, I know I can compete at the top of the Olympia. Of course, bringing the usual volume and the condition I managed to achieve recently”, highlights the athlete.
After experiencing the peak of his career at Olympia 2023, Moreira was unable to repeat the feat in 2024 and did not take to the most important stage in bodybuilding in 2025. According to him, personal problems and injuries prevented him from presenting his best possible physique in the last year.
Despite acknowledging that he is not at his peak, the bodybuilder claims that the 2026 season will be different from the last two: “I know that when I am at my 100% it will be another physique, another head (…) anyone who thinks I was at my 100% in the last shows has no idea where I can reach at my peak”.
Moreira also discusses the dynamics of being recognized as the best Brazilian athlete in his category and points out that this informal title is temporary given the competitiveness of the division: “The 212 is so competitive that, since 2021, every year someone new is considered the best Brazilian in this category. It has been Lucas Coelho, Felipe Moraes, Vitor Porto, me… today, Lucas Garcia is the one in this position.”
Recently, Moreira won runner-up in Mr Olympia Brasil by presenting what, for many, was the best physique of his career. However, what many didn’t know is that he faced preparation for this competition without even being sure that he would be able to compete due to a knee injury.
