María Corina Machado calls for protests before receiving Nobel Peace Prize

Venezuela’s opposition leader, María Corina Machado, called on Venezuelans and people from around the world to march this Saturday (6) for “peace and freedom” in the South American country.

The request was made through a video published on his social networks days before receiving the 2025 Nobel Peace Prize in Oslo.

She stated that demonstrations would take place in 80 cities in more than 20 countries, and asked Venezuelans abroad to check meeting points or propose new ones whenever possible, in line with her message.

Machado classified the Nobel Peace Prize as a tribute to the democratic struggle, citizen organization and the determination to resist oppression, and said that the reward calls on Venezuelans to be even more firm in the search for the country’s freedom.

She will receive it on December 10th, amid a tense geopolitical context in the Caribbean, with the United States explicitly threatening the government of Nicolás Maduro.
