The heads of diplomacy of Portuguese-speaking countries express “deep concern” about the political and institutional situation in Guinea-Bissau, following last week’s coup d’état.

On November 26, armed men seized the presidential palace and overthrew the government and the President. The coup took place three days after presidential elections and legislative and the day before the provisional results are announced.

Provisional results would point to victoryin the first round, by Fernando Dias, the independent candidate supported by the opposition.

This Wednesday, the Guinean National Elections Commission admitted that the electoral process did not survive the coup.

The Commission says that IT material was vandalized and destroyed and electoral records were confiscated, and that all of this makes it impossible to publish the election results.
