Sao Paulo/Brasília – The son of the ex-president of Brazil, who was convicted of a planned coup, wants to become president himself. Senator Flavio Bolsonaro said on Tuesday that his decision to run in the 2026 presidential election was irreversible. His father, Jair Bolsonaro, is serving a 27-year prison sentence. He was convicted of plotting a coup after his defeat by left-wing Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva in the 2022 election.
