One of the biggest names in the history of football, Cristiano Ronaldo continues in search of another incredible milestone in his successful career. According to the player’s own count, CR7 has 954 official games and, at 40 years old, has a chance of reaching the legendary thousand goal mark. However, there is a calculation that shows that the Portuguese star has already reached the much-desired thousandth goal.
With 954 goals scored in official games, there are 46 left to reach the thousandth goal. These remaining goals were scored by Cristiano Ronaldo in friendly matches, making CR7 reach a thousand goals in his career.
Considering only friendly matches, the Portuguese scored two goals for Sporting, 11 for Manchester United, 23 for Real Madrid, three for Juventus and seven for Al-Nassr.
So why aren’t Cristiano Ronaldo and the football world celebrating the 1000th goal? THE Sporting News explains to follow.

Why hasn’t Cristiano Ronaldo celebrated his 1000th goal yet?
Ronaldo still does not count having scored a thousand goals in his career due to European strictness that does not consider goals scored outside of competitions, in friendlies, as “official”.
CR7 himself has already indirectly mocked Pelé’s goal count in interviews, stating that all of the Portuguese’s goals are recorded on video. Depending on the source – and including official games, friendlies, charity and exhibition matches, etc. – the King of Football would have scored between 1282 and 1285 goals.
However, Europeans, including Cristiano Ronaldo apparently, dispute the mark, ignoring, for example, the goals scored in friendly tours by Santos against strong European teams, including Milan, Inter Milan, Real Madrid and Barcelona.
