The inauguration of an access road between Foz do Iguaçu and the governor of Paraná, . (PSD), pre-candidate for president, and the Lula government.
Ratinho intended to inaugurate this Thursday (11) the Perimetral Leste, a project contracted during the administration of Jair Bolsonaro (PL), who had . There are 14.7 km connecting BR-277 and the new bridge, worth R$230 million.
In a letter sent to the Federal Highway Police this Wednesday (10), however, the head of the Dnit (National Department of Transport Infrastructure) in Foz do Iguaçu, Marcel Escobedo, states that the work cannot be inaugurated due to a lack of signage.
“It was found that the work does not meet the conditions for acceptance, mainly due to inadequacies in horizontal signage [faixas] and pending full implementation of vertical signage [placas]essential elements for road safety and the technical compliance of the project”, says Escobedo’s letter. He also argues that the stretch is part of a federal highway and therefore needs authorization from the Dnit.
The Ratinho government says that the signage was executed according to the project approved by the Dnit itself and that any adjustments can be made quickly, in time for delivery.
After a conversation between the governor and the Minister of Transport, Renan Filho, this Wednesday (10), it was agreed that Ratinho will inspect the work, with the inauguration at a later date.
It will probably be together with the opening of the bridge itself, on December 19, with Lula in attendance. The work will absorb truck traffic and relieve traffic.
Privately, members of the state administration say that postponing the opening of the perimeter has the sole objective of not giving the governor a platform.
In a statement, the Ministry of Transport stated that the stretch is federal, managed by Dnit, a technical body that has civil and criminal responsibility for the operation of highways under its supervision.
“We respect the opinion of DER [do Paraná]but the operating standards and requirements of these organizations are different. The government of Paraná has been a major partner of the federal government in several projects that are allocating more than R$120 billion in transport infrastructure”, he stated.
