Diniz avoids euphoria after Vasco’s great comeback in the Copa do Brasil

Coach Fernando Diniz classified Vasco’s victory over Fluminense, this Thursday (11), in the semi-final of the Copa do Brasil, as a “first half” only. According to him, the game is still very open.

According to the coach, Vasco played a good game overall, which was decisive in building the advantage.

“It was as if it was the first half of the game and we had an advantage. As in today’s game, Fluminense went into the break winning and we had to look for the comeback. We have this period until the next game to correct our mistakes, but we are in advantage in 90 minutes of a game of 180. It’s open. I have a lot of respect for Zubeldía, I’ve faced him several times, I lost, I won… It’s going to be difficult, but we have an advantage in the first half”, he highlighted.

According to the coach, in the first 90 minutes of the duel, .

“I think we had a good first half, we finished better than Fluminense in the first half. We scored better in the second half, we deserved the comeback, the team tried to score more, they tried to score more, we had more chances to score”, he highlighted.

When analyzing the game, Diniz countered that it would have been a game with many balls thrown into the area, especially in the first half when Fluminense had the advantage.

“I didn’t think that in the first half we were lifting many balls. Fluminense lowered their marking after scoring the goal and it was difficult to enter. Gómez was playing more inside and we opened him up. It’s not just crossing or crossing, but how you do it. We had more serenity, the passing dynamics changed. The game flowed more naturally”, he analyzed.

Duel

Vasco needs a draw or a victory to reach the final of the Copa do Brasil, on Sunday (14), at 8:30 pm (Brasília time), again at Maracanã.

A simple victory for Fluminense takes the duel to penalties. For Tricolor to pass, it is necessary to win by two or more goals difference.
