Thiago Silva, captain and idol of Fluminense, pointed out the mistakes made by the team in the 2-1 defeat to Vasco, this Thursday (11), in a game valid for the first leg of the semi-final of the Copa do Brasil.
The team led by Luis Zubeldía opened the scoring with striker Kevin Serna at the beginning of the game. However, Tricolor saw Vasco grow mainly in the second stage and suffered a turnaround in the final moments, .
Thiago Silva was direct and recognized that Fluminense dropped in production in the second half. The defender admitted that the team had difficulty overcoming Vasco’s marking and that part of the strategy defined for the classic did not work.
“We stopped playing. They pressed, they were pressing well, they fit well. And we weren’t able to get out of the zone. Not even the deep ball, which was mentioned we did today. We even played a lot of long balls, but without movement”, analyzed the captain.
Despite the defeat, the number 3 exempted his teammates from any blame and stated that the confrontation is still open.
“It’s not a fault, pointing the finger at anyone. Adverse result. 2 to 1. Let’s go to the second game, another 90 minutes. Everything is open and they know it too”, he added.
