Slovak ex-president Andrej Kiska (62) had to deal with an unpleasant situation that can happen to any of us. Fortunately, a good person was found and the unexpected problem was solved within a few hours. “Yesterday, while playing sports in nature, my wife lost her car keys. The car is locked, we don’t have spare keys. The documents and wallet were left in the car. Sadness, helplessness,” explained the former head of state on .
“And then nice things started to happen. Someone unknown found the keys and took them to the police. The policewoman immediately put their photo on the Poprad FB forum. And our acquaintance, who knew about our problem, immediately called us. In a few hours the problem was over. Thanks to all the good people who helped. The world is immediately more beautiful,” he added.
Then the finder Patrik called under Kisko’s status. “Nice to do. I never thought I’d find keys while jogging that belonged to such a famous person. I believe I put you in a good mood this Christmas and I must run even more for more good deeds. When I found the keys to the apartment and the car at the same time, I thought that someone had made a double problem. I can’t let it go. I turned the original route to the shooting range and ran around town. Happy holidays,” he wrote.
„Thanks for getting in touch. We are your debtors. Happy holidays to you and all good people.” the ex-president immediately responded. PHOTOS of posts can be found in the gallery!
Andrej Kiska was born on February 2, 1963 in Poprad. In 1986, he completed his engineering studies in the field of microelectronics at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering of the Slovak Technical University (STU) in Bratislava. After completing his studies, he worked as a designer at Naftoprojekt in Poprad.
In 1990, he went to the United States of America, where he worked as a salesman at a gas station or as a construction worker. After a year and a half, he returned to Slovakia as co-owner of a trading company, which, however, went bankrupt after a few weeks.
Since 1996, he co-founded the installment companies Tatracredit, Triangel and Quatro. In 2005, he sold all of his shares in these companies to Všeobecnej úverová banka (VÚB) and decided to dedicate himself to charity. In 2006, he participated in the founding of the charitable non-profit organization Dobrý Anjel.
The organization helped families with children in a difficult financial situation due to a serious life-threatening illness with regular monthly financial contributions. In the same year, he received the Manager of the Year award from Trend magazine and in 2011 the Crystal Wing award for philanthropy.
Kiska decided to run in the presidential elections in October 2012 as a non-party candidate. The winner of the first round of the presidential election on March 15, 2014 was the then Prime Minister Fico, who was voted by 28 percent of the people. Together with him, Kiska, who received the vote of 24 percent of the voters, advanced to the second round.
On March 29, 2014, Kiska became the winner of the second round of elections and the new Slovak president, who was voted by 59.38 percent of the people. He assumed the position of head of state after taking the oath on June 15, 2014 and replaced Ivan Gašparovič as the president of the republic. He worked in the presidential office from June 15, 2014 to June 15, 2019.
He did not run again in the presidential elections in March 2019, but in the same year he founded the party Za lúdí. As chairman, he led it to the National Council of the Slovak Republic after the parliamentary elections held on February 29, 2020. The party won 5.77 percent of the vote and became part of the government coalition.
However, Kiska did not take over his parliamentary mandate and subsequently announced the end of his career in politics and the end of his tenure as party chairman. This happened at the party congress on August 8, 2020, at which the new party leadership was elected. However, events in Slovakia are still being monitored.
