The proposal that reduces the sentence of former president Jair Bolsonaro (PL) and foresees changes in the regime progression for some crimes is a Natal president for criminal factions, says senator Fabiano Contarato (PT-ES).
The bill was criticized by senators mainly for opening space for a faster regime progression for people found guilty of coercion during the process, arson and resistance against public agents, .
“I am absolutely against any attempt to relativize one of the most serious episodes in the history of our democracy”, says Contarato. “What happened was not an organized attempt at institutional rupture, which must be punished accordingly.”
The senator describes the project as extremely dangerous for the country. “To try to save Bolsonaro’s skin, loopholes are opened that can benefit highly dangerous criminals and that serve as a Christmas present for criminal factions”, he adds. “I will fight to stop this shameful setback.”
The project is on the agenda of this Wednesday’s (17) meeting.
