Competition provides €260,000 for oncology research projects

The 3rd edition of the National Cancer Hub-PT competition provides €260,000 to finance Clinical Research and Biomedical Innovation projects, covering different areas of the oncological disease pathway. The application submission period runs between January 5th and March 5th, 2026.

The National Cancer Hub-PT (NCH-PT), an initiative coordinated by the Agency for Clinical Research and Biomedical Innovation (AICIB) and the Directorate-General for Health (DGS), through the National Program for Oncological Diseases (PNDO), announces the opening of the third edition of the funding competition for Clinical Research and Biomedical Innovation (IC&IB) projects in the area of ​​cancer. In this edition, the Portuguese League Against Cancer (LPCC) joins as co-financing entities, continuing the support started in 2025, and the Portuguese Society of Oncology.


€260 mil

is the value of global financing – a higher amount than the previous edition – of the 3rd edition of the NCH-PT competition, a project that aims to be in line with the mission it has practiced since its inception and which consists of boosting and strengthening the fight against cancer

O Application submission period runs from January 5th to March 5th of 2026.

The competition regulations will soon be published on the official digital platforms of the financing entities. As in the previous edition, projects in the areas of primary prevention, early detection, diagnosis and treatment, survival and quality of life, as well as transversal areas, including pediatric cancer, health information, research and development, are eligible.
