Practical training for clinical psychologists remains a bottleneck, even though treatment is paid for

Clinical-psychological treatments will be available from spring onwards, if you are lucky enough to get a suitable place. There is currently a wait of several months for a place. But that’s not all: there is also a lack of practical training positions for clinical psychologists, which was already pointed out in an open letter in mid-November. Around 340 psychologists signed it. But the situation is getting worse, said the spokesman for the initiative for more training places in the federal capital, Marko Lang, to STANDARD. Because of the savings in organizations of the Vienna Social Fund (FSW), existing training positions there would not be filled. This is also the case in the hospitals of the Vienna Health Association (Wigev) for reasons of savings.
