Last week, the hacker group ‘ShinyHunters’ claimed to have stolen data belonging to Pornhub customers and threatened to make it public if the platform did not pay a ransom.
Os ShinyHunters are demanding a bitcoin ransom from Pornhubto prevent publication and carry out the elimination of the 94 gigabytes of stolen information.
To prove that the extortion is based on real data, the group has already shared data from 14 users. Three former Pornhub customers confirmed, however, that the data is really authentic.
Still, the group refused to clarify how it managed to access the information.
ShinyHunters are a well-known hacker group. There have been a series of high-profile attacks and extortion attempts in recent times. This time the target was the biggest porn site in the world.
Pornhub, founded in 2007 in Canada, claims to have more than 100 million daily views and 36,000 million views per year.
The 94 gigabytes of information that the hackers accessed contain 201 211 943 customer recordsrelating to user search history, views and downloads – but only for those who use the paid version of the site.
The data also includes information about the email associate, type of activity, location, URL and name of videos viewed and searchedassociated keywords and even the time they were viewed.
