Gari is prevented from receiving a basic food basket for not wearing a uniform and this case generates outrage on the networks

A street sweeper identified as Rodrigo Azevedo was humiliated during the distribution of basic food baskets this weekend, in the municipality of Santa Inês (MA), after being prevented from receiving the benefit because he was not wearing the full uniform of the urban cleaning service. The case was recorded on video and gained great repercussion on social media.

According to the information released, Rodrigo had his uniform tied around his waist and, at the moment he was going to receive the basic food basket, he had the food taken from his hands on the grounds that he was not wearing the full uniform. After the approach, he was forced to put on his full uniform and return to the end of the line to, only then, have access to the benefit. The images circulating on social media clearly show the moment the basket is taken from the street sweeper, which generated strong repercussions and indignation.

After the situation, another employee who was waiting in line and who could face the same embarrassing approach tried to put on his shirt before arriving at the delivery point. The episode generated outrage and raised questions about the conduct adopted during the social action.

Rodrigo confirmed what happened in an interview with the Jailson Mendes Blog, the page responsible for the publication that went viral. The street sweeper reported that he lives alone and lost both parents during the Covid-19 pandemic, which worsened his financial situation. The post was made on the Jailson Mendes da Baixada page, which has more than 222 thousand followers, and has already exceeded 66 thousand likes.

The repercussion reached well-known personalities. Comedian Rafael Portugal commented on the publication asking for the @ of the humiliated server, showing solidarity with the street sweeper and criticizing the situation exposed in the video.

To date, Santa Inês City Hall has not officially commented on the case. However, in the publications, residents and internet users began to demand a position from the public authorities and ask for clarification on the possible liability of the official involved.

Among the most recurring comments are questions about the need for the uniform requirement, criticism of the way the situation was handled and requests for an official note. “We already want the official note talking about the dismissal of the employee who humiliated the street sweeper”, wrote an internet user. Others classified the episode as “shameful” and criticized the practice of social actions accompanied by embarrassment.
