This Tuesday (23/12), the minister of the Federal Supreme Court (STF), authorized the surgery for the former president. The politician is expected to be hospitalized and undergo a surgical procedure to treat an inguinal hernia next Thursday (25/12), the date on which Christmas is celebrated.

According to information from G1, the minister of the Federal Supreme Court (STF), Alexandre de Moraes, authorized the hospitalization of former president Jair Bolsonaro, which should take place next Wednesday (24/12), to begin pre-operative procedures. The former president’s defense requested this Tuesday (23/12) the transfer of the Federal Police headquarters, in Brasília, where Bolsonaro is imprisoned, to a private hospital in the federal capital, in order to carry out the surgical procedure. Authorization was granted by Moraes after the Federal Police confirmed, through official expertise, the diagnosis that indicates the need for surgery.

The examination was carried out at the National Institute of Criminalistics, which concluded that the former president has a bilateral inguinal hernia, a problem that occurs when body tissues, such as the intestine, pass through a weakened area of the groin muscles. The condition causes pain and swelling on both sides, and often requires surgery to correct.

The examination also indicated a progressive worsening of the clinical condition. Despite authorizing the procedure to be carried out, Moraes had denied, last Thursday (12/19), the request for house arrest presented by the former president’s defense. Bolsonaro has been detained since November 22, after the electronic ankle bracelet was violated.
