Minister Alexandre de Moraes, of the Federal Supreme Court (STF), released a new note on Tuesday night, the 23rd, regarding the complaint that he had met with the president of the Central Bank, Gabriel Galípolo, to discuss the sale of Banco Master to BRB.
In a new press release, the third since the newspaper’s revelation of the case The GlobeMoraes provided more details about the conversations with the president of the municipality, citing, for the first time, the dates of two meetings, and again denied that he had discussed the sale of Master to BRB.
Furthermore, he denied having spoken to Galípolo on the phone. “In none of the meetings was any issue discussed or any pressure applied regarding the acquisition of BRB by Banco Master (sic).”

In previous statements, the minister’s office stated that the meetings between Moraes and Galípolo dealt “exclusively” with the effects of the application of the Magnitsky Law, of which the magistrate and his wife, Viviane Barci, were targets.
In the new statement, the minister detailed, for the first time, the number and dates of meetings with Galípolo. The previous notes referred, in a generic way, to “meetings” with the president of the BC.
According to the new note, the first meeting took place on August 14, after Magnitsky’s application against Moraes, and the second conversation, on September 30, after his wife, Viviane, was sanctioned. Both meetings took place in the minister’s office.
Moraes also stated, in the note, that his wife’s law firm “never acted in the BRB-Master acquisition operation before the Central Bank”.
Estadão reveals links between Moraes and Galípolo
Moraes’ third statement was released minutes after the Estadão reveal that the minister called Galípolo six times in a single day to discuss the sale of Master to BRB. In the new note, the minister states that “there was no telephone call” with the president of the municipality.
On Monday the 22nd, the newspaper The Globe revealed the occurrence of at least four meetings between the magistrate and the president of the BC, one of which was in person.
