Security forces at the border: They discovered the transport of 2 kg of methamphetamine to Ukraine

Two Ukrainian citizens were detained at the border between Ukraine and Slovakia with 3.7 kilograms of methamphetamine. Authorities uncovered an attempt to smuggle drugs and cash.

Two Ukrainian citizens were detained at the Ukrainian-Slovak border while trying to import two kilograms of methamphetamine into Ukraine. During the search of their house, the Ukrainian authorities confiscated another 1.7 kilograms of this drug, with a total value of approximately 191,000 euros. This was reported by the Ukrainian news website UNN on Wednesday, writes TASR.

Security forces discovered a channel on the border between the countries used to import psychotropic substances to Ukraine, UNN reported, citing the Ukrainian border guard.

Drugs and the car

The detained persons – a man and a woman – traveled to Ukraine in an Audi car. During a thorough inspection, the security forces found two kilograms of an unknown substance similar to methamphetamine in the car and on the body of the 42-year-old passenger.

“The substance was packed in two plastic bags, one of which was hidden in a box with washing powder and the other under the man’s clothes. The result of a preliminary test confirmed that it was methamphetamine,” the Ukrainian border guard said.

Money and drugs discovered

In addition to the packages, the Ukrainian authorities also confiscated cash in various currencies from the persons.

During the search at the place of residence of the detained persons, the Ukrainian authorities seized another 1.7 kilograms of methamphetamine. According to estimates, the total value of the confiscated drugs is approximately 191,000 euros.
