Gymnast Isabelle Marciniak dies at age 18, victim of cancer

Brazilian champion in 2021 and a highlight of the sport in Paraná, the young woman was fighting Hodgkin’s lymphoma

Brazilian gymnast Isabelle Marciniak, just 18 years old, died last Wednesday (24). The athlete was a victim of cancer. The young woman was fighting Hodgkin’s lymphoma. The death was confirmed by the Paraná Gymnastics Federation in a post on social media.

“With great regret, the Paraná Gymnastics Federation receives the news of the death of former gymnast Isabelle Marciniak,” said the entity.

“Isabelle was part of the history of Clube Agir, where she built important achievements and shone in the Paraná and Brazilian Championships. Among her latest achievements, the title of champion with the adult trio of Clube Agir, in 2023, stands out, a result of her commitment and team spirit”, stated the Federation.

“In this moment of pain, we sympathize with family, friends, teammates, coaches and the entire gymnastics community. May your story, your passion for the sport and your memories remain alive as an inspiration for all who believe in gymnastics as a tool for human formation and transformation”, he added.

Isabelle Marciniak was born in Araucária, metropolitan region of . In 2021, she won the gold medal at the Brazilian Rhythmic Gymnastics Championship, taking the title in the individual all-around, in addition to also winning the ball apparatus and winning silver in the ribbon. In 2023, the gymnast was champion in the adult trio of the Paranaense Team Championship.

The wake was held in the chapel of the Jardim Independência cemetery, in Araucária, where the burial was also held, this Thursday (25).
