US Department of Justice receives 1 million new documents on the Jeffrey Epstein case

The Department of Justice announced this Wednesday (24) that it has received from the FBI and a New York prosecutor’s office around 1 million new documents allegedly related to the case of the pedophile financier, which it must review before making them public.

“We have lawyers working tirelessly to review and carry out the legally required erasures to protect victims and we will publish the documents as quickly as possible. Due to the large volume of material, this process may take a few more weeks,” the ministry said in a message on social media.

A law approved by Congress in November obliged the president’s government to disclose on the 19th all non-classified documentation about the case of Epstein, who committed suicide in prison in 2019.

The Department of Justice, however, only revealed part of the files that day, including several photos of former President Bill Clinton with Epstein, arguing that the amount of information was too high and that it needed time to review all the content, something that generated criticism from the opposition to the Trump administration and the victims.

In a new shipment released on Monday (22), the name of Trump appears repeatedly, who would have traveled several times on Epstein’s private plane, but there is no evidence that he participated in his sexual crimes.

As revealed this Wednesday by the Department of Justice, led by Attorney General Pam Bondi, the FBI and the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York discovered “more than 1 million additional documents, possibly related to the Jeffrey Epstein case.”

The department committed to reviewing them and continuing to “fully comply with federal law and President Trump’s order to publish the files.”
