Tainara Souza Santos had been hospitalized since November 29; Douglas Alves da Silva is accused of feminicide
Tainara Souza Santos, 31 years old, who had been hospitalized since November 29th after being run over and dragged 1 km in the north of São Paulo, died on Wednesday (24th December 2025) at Hospital das Clínicas.
Douglas Alves da Silva, 26 years old, on November 30th. He is a defendant on charges of attempted femicide against Tainara and attempted murder against a boy who was with her at the time.
On November 29, security cameras recorded Tainara and Douglas arguing in the street. Then, the suspect got into a black car, accelerated and ran over the victim, who was trapped under the vehicle. He continued driving on Marginal Tietê for around 1 km with Tainara still trapped under the vehicle. She was dragged until the suspect passed the sidewalk of a gas station. She was rescued by witnesses and taken to hospital.
The death information was confirmed by Wilson Zaska Advocacia Criminal, which represents the family. In a statement published on Instagram, the lawyers asked for respect and said that they would soon release more information.
Mother of 2 children, aged 7 and 12, Tainara had both legs amputated and underwent 5 surgeries to help reconstruct the injuries. She had been intubated since the day of the accident.
The last surgery was carried out on Monday (Dec 22) to remove skin to be used as a graft on the remaining portion of the leg, in the gluteal region. She would also have undergone a tracheostomy to remove the breathing tube.
