The president-elect of Honduras, Nasry Asfura, sent a Christmas message to the nation on Wednesday (24), promising not to disappoint the Honduran people.
Nasry Asfura, the country’s conservative presidential candidate backed by US President Donald Trump, was declared the winner on Wednesday, more than three weeks after the , marked by delays, technical problems and allegations of fraud.
“I extend my hand so that we can walk together with firm determination to work tirelessly for Honduras. I will not disappoint you,” Asfura said in his Christmas message.
Trump’s support for Asfura included threats if he lost and allegations of fraud during vote counting, part of his broader strategy to build a conservative bloc in Latin America.
Asfura is scheduled to take office on January 27 for the 2026–2030 term.
