Tainara Souza Santos, the 31-year-old woman who was run over and dragged for a kilometer on Marginal Tietê, in the north of , (24), Christmas Eve. The information was confirmed by the family on social media.

Mother of two young children – a 12-year-old boy and a 7-year-old girl – Tainara worked as a self-employed salesperson on an online commerce platform and, according to acquaintances, worked hard to support her children.

The crime took place around 6 am on November 29th. According to the family lawyer, Tainara was in front of a bar in the Vila Maria region, when the suspect – Douglas Alves da Silva, with whom she had already had a relationship – approached. Afterwards, Silva began to fight with the man who accompanied her.

His defense lawyer, Marcos Leal, stated that his client is an admitted defendant in the run-over, but denies any involvement with the woman.

Just with the numbers from January to October, the city of São Paulo had a record number of femicides compared to previous years. Among the reasons for the phenomenon, according to experts, are the dissemination of hate speech, the impact of social networks and the lack of investment in preventing these crimes.

She was rescued with severe injuries, her legs were amputated and was hospitalized in serious condition. The suspect was arrested on November 30th.

“It is with great pain that I come to inform you that our little warrior, Tay, has left us. She has rested”, said Lúcia Aparecida Silva, the victim’s mother, on social media. “It’s a huge pain, but the suffering is over. And now it’s time to ask for justice”, he concluded.

In recent weeks, Tainara has undergone at least five surgeries after being run over. The first ones were carried out on the 29th, to amputate both legs.

On December 2, Tainara underwent another procedure, to place support pins in her pelvis and remained in the ICU at Hospital Municipal Vereador José Storopolli, in Vila Maria. The following day, the young woman’s family stated that a fourth surgery would be necessary to perform a graft on the amputated areas.

After two weeks of hospitalization and a transfer to Hospital das Clínicas (HC), Tainara needed another graft surgery at the amputation site, on December 16th.

On the 22nd, another procedure was performed, including a new amputation in the thigh region, necessary for the reconstruction of the glutes. According to the family, Tainara also underwent a tracheostomy to remove the breathing tube and plastic surgery to repair it.

The law firm that represented the family in the case confirmed that the victim died around 7 pm. “Tainara could not resist the injuries caused by the brutality practiced against her on November 29, 2025”, points out a statement from Wilson Zaska Advocacia Criminal.

Douglas Alves da Silva, 26 years old, identified by the Civil Police as responsible for the crime, became a defendant for attempted murder and feminicide.

“She was with someone else and this aroused his jealousy and motivated the fight that would have happened in front of the bar. It was a relationship that went back and forth, but there was a relationship between them. The fight that would have motivated his action would have been due to jealousy”, says Wilson Zaskas, lawyer for the victim’s family.

Security camera footage shows Tainara and Douglas arguing on the street, outside the bar. Moments later, the suspect gets into a black car, accelerates and runs over the woman, who is trapped under the vehicle. The man does not stop the vehicle.

Then, on Marginal Tietê, he continues driving while the victim is dragged along the road. A second video, obtained by Estadão, records the moment the car travels with Tainara still trapped under the car. The young woman’s body only detached itself from the vehicle after the suspect passed the sidewalk of a gas station, approximately 1 kilometer from the initial location of the collision. She was rescued by witnesses and taken to the Vereador José Storopolli Municipal Hospital, in serious condition.

According to the Public Security Secretariat (SSP-SP), civil police officers from the Specialized Center for the Repression of Crimes and Miscellaneous Occurrences (Siege) of the 4th Section, with the support of teams from the 90th Police District, located the suspect’s vehicle in Vila Prudente, in the east zone of the capital. They then discovered that he was staying at a hotel in the neighborhood and went to the location. Initially, he was wanted as the author of the attempted feminicide.

During the approach, according to the SSP, the suspect resisted and advanced against one of the agents, which required police intervention. In the action, one of the agents fired a shot that hit the suspect in the arm.
