Moscow begins trial against German sculptor Jacques Tilly


The German sculptor Jacques Tilly has to answer in a Russian court for defaming the Russian army. In the center are the carnival floats with images of Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin, which were part of the Rose Monday parades in Düsseldorf. The Russian judiciary has scheduled the first public trial date for next Tuesday in the controversial criminal case. The court in Moscow announced that the proceedings in the matter will begin on December 30th at 9:30 a.m. (7:30 a.m. CET). According to Russian law, this could result in a fine or imprisonment for up to ten years. The trial is taking place in the defendant’s absence.
