Carlos Bolsonaro lists his father’s illnesses after Moraes refuses house arrest

Former Rio councilor Carlos Bolsonaro (PL) published on Instagram a list of illnesses that former president Jair Bolsonaro (PL) has. According to Carlos, the list of comorbidities was sent to argue the need to grant house arrest to the former chief executive.

According to Carlos, Bolsonaro has gastroesophageal reflux with esophagitis, primary essential hypertension, atherosclerotic heart disease, carotid occlusion and stenosis, sleep apnea, squamous cell carcinoma, which were diagnosed as skin cancer.

The former councilor also cited the existence of health problems for which Bolsonaro has been treated since Wednesday, 24, at the DF Star Hospital, such as intractable solutions with constant reflux that generate vomiting and the existence of hernias, which were corrected in surgery that lasted around four hours over the Christmas holiday.

The defense claims that Bolsonaro’s health problems make it impossible for him to serve a sentence of 27 years and three months in prison for attempted coup d’état and four other crimes, in a closed regime. A request was made last week to the Minister of the Federal Supreme Court (STF) Alexandre de Moraes. The minister, however, only allowed surgery to correct a bilateral inguinal hernia.

Post-surgical treatment

In addition to starting rehabilitation with physiotherapy, former president Jair Bolsonaro (PL) is being medicated to prevent thrombosis and also to relieve pain. According to a medical bulletin released this Friday afternoon, the 26th, adjustments were made to medications for hiccups and gastro-esophageal reflux disease.

There are no plans for new additional exams or procedures this Friday. The bulletin is signed by general surgeon Claudio Birolini, cardiologists Leandro Echenique and Brasil Caiado and the general director of Hospital DF Star, Allisson B. Barcelos Borges.

Bolsonaro was admitted to DF Star, in Brasília, on Wednesday, December 24, to undergo bilateral inguinal herniorrhaphy surgery. The procedure was completed uneventfully on Thursday the 25th, lasting three and a half hours.

The former president remains in the hospital to complete a recovery period of five to seven days, under post-operative care, such as analgesia, motor physiotherapy and prevention of venous thrombosis. Doctors will evaluate next Monday, the 29th, whether they will subject the former head of the Executive Branch to a procedure to treat hiccups.
