Russian missile and drone attacks on Kiev left more than a million homes without electricity and injured at least 11 people. The bombings took place on the eve of talks between Ukraine and the United States.
More than a million homes were left without electricity following Russian attacks on the Ukrainian capital Kiev, private operator DTEK said this Saturday.
“The first attack deprived more than 700,000 of electricity Saturday [hoje] in the morning, and another 400,000 were disconnected from the network in the capital region”, revealed the operator DTEK on the social network Telegram, guaranteeing that it is working to reestablish access to the network.
At least 11 people were injured this morning in a Russian attack with missiles and drones against the Ukrainian capital, Kiev, on the eve of talks between Ukraine and the United States, local authorities announced.
Explosions were heard for several hours, when ballistic missiles and ‘drones’ hit different parts of the city.
The attack began in the early hours of the morning and continued until dawn.
The bombing occurs at a time when Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is preparing for a meeting with US President Donald Trump on Sunday, as part of contacts aimed at putting an end to the war, which has lasted for almost four years.
Before that, today Zelensky arrived in Halifax, Canada, to meet with Canadian Prime Minister, Mark Carney.
“We have arrived in Halifax”, Zelensky’s spokesman Serhiy Nykyforov told journalists, announcing “a bilateral meeting” with Mark Carney “followed by a joint telephone conversation with European leaders”, he added.
Mark Carney today condemned the Russian attacks overnight on Kiev, and insisted that any peace agreement in Ukraine requires “a Russia ready to cooperate”.
“We have the means and the possibility of [obter] a just and lasting peace, but that requires a Russia ready to cooperate”, he declared today in a brief exchange of words with the press, flanked by Volodymyr Zelensky, in Halifax.
