The Paraguayan police handed over the former director of the PRF (Federal Highway Police) to the PF () this Friday (26), according to images from Globonews and CNN Brasil. He was detained in Asunción, Paraguay when trying to board a flight to El Salvador.
Silvinei was sentenced to six months in prison by the First Panel of the (Supremo Tribunal Federal) as a participant in one of the cores of the government’s coup plot (PL). He was awaiting the end of his case in freedom, monitored by an electronic ankle monitor.
The ministers found him guilty of five crimes, including attempted coup d’état, after he carried out blitzes in places with a predominance of Lula (PT) voters on the day of the second round of the 2022 elections.
A detected a failure in monitoring Vasques’ electronic ankle bracelet at 3am on December 25th. According to reports from the agents, at that time the equipment stopped transmitting the GPS signal.
The first team called to check the loss of signal from the ankle bracelet was the Santa Catarina Penal Police, around 8pm this Thursday (25). Silvinei was no longer in his apartment, in the municipality of São José.
At around 11pm, a team from the Regional Superintendence of the Federal Police in Santa Catarina was on site to investigate possible non-compliance with restrictive measures.
Silvinei would have used a rented car to leave the building where he lived, in Santa Catarina, towards Paraguay. Hours before breaking his ankle bracelet, the former PRF director organized his belongings. Wearing sweatpants, a t-shirt and a cap, he took bags, dog toilet mats and a pitbull to the vehicle.
The PF informed the main steps of Silvinei’s attempted escape to the minister of the (Supreme Federal Court), who ordered his preventive detention.
