“This girl, Tainara, was the victim of cruelty, it’s one of those cases that leave me in shock”, said the secretary, who is planning an operation later this year with the aim of capturing and arresting fugitives who committed crimes.
Since taking over the Public Security Secretariat at the end of November, replacing deputy Guilherme Derrite (PP), Nico has said that one of his missions is to act against feminicide and cases of rape. These are two crimes that the administration (Republicans) has faced difficulties in curbing.
“We are going to arrest rapists, abusers, aggressors, femicides in this operation. I am very operational and I am encouraging the police in the fight against these criminals. I have carried out several operations, I like it and the fight against femicide and rape is a commitment”, said Nico.
In 2025, the capital of São Paulo registered, with 53 records from January to October this year alone. In 2024, there were 51 cases of femicide from January to December, until then the highest number ever recorded.
In the Derrite era, another negative mark was the historic high in rape records, which rose to a level of around 10 thousand complaints in the state in each of the three years with him at the head of the department, something previously unheard of.
