A woman and a 7-year-old boy died when a wall collapsed and fell into a well due to the heavy rains that hit the Gaza Strip in the last hours and that flooded dozens of tents of displaced people in the devastated Palestinian enclave.
As reported this Sunday by the Gaza Civil Defense rescue team, the woman, in her 30s, and the child drowned in the well after falling there due to the collapse of a wall due to the storm. In addition, Civil Defense teams assisted those affected by the tent floodingsome shelters in which they live hundreds of thousands of Gazans throughout the Strip after the destruction of their houses by Israel.
They collaborated with them to pump out accumulated water, clean drains and waterways, and distributed tents to those affected in collaboration with charities, they explained in a statement. Civil Defense workers also rescued a Red Crescent vehicle that was trapped by the rain. Their teams remain on high alert as the rains continue in Gaza, where rainfall is expected this Sunday and Monday.
