The young woman, who will be between 16 and 17 years old, was said to have been in contact with a Russian officer via the Telegram application, who asked her to make recordings of the headquarters of the National Border Guard Academy of Ukraine, a military installation in Jmelnitski and a railway station used to transport military cargo, among other locations.
A Ukrainian court sentenced a teenager to five years in prison for “illegally handing over” information about military installations in Ukraine to Russia in exchange for monetary rewards, in the context of the Russian invasion of the country.
The court, located in the province of Jmelnitski, indicated that the convicted is an 11th year student — aged between 16 and 17 years old – whose identity has not been revealed, which allegedly provided the data to a Russian intelligence officer in exchange for various amounts of money.
In the verdict, the court emphasizes that the teenager “is guilty of committing a crime under the Criminal Code of Ukraine and sentenced to five years in prison”but clarifies that will not serve a prison sentence, after reaching an agreement with the Prosecutor’s Office, which will allow him to remain on probation for two years.
The court further determined that, During this period, the young woman will have to periodically report to the authorities, report any change to her place of residence, studies or work, not travel abroad without authorization and comply with all obligations defined by the agent responsible for probation..
