Given the seriousness of his health, the businessman was transferred on Saturday to Santa Juliana Hospital, where he remained hospitalized under intensive care, but did not survive and passed away on Sunday night.

According to information, Betão was facing Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects motor neurons. The condition causes muscle weakness, atrophy and gradual paralysis, compromising essential functions such as speech, swallowing and breathing.

ALS has no cure, but there are treatments that help control symptoms and contribute to improving patients’ quality of life, slowing the progression of the disease.

Betão was recognized as one of the most influential figures in Acre, with a career marked by his work, entrepreneurship and contribution to the development of the state.
