The Globe Soccer Awards were marked by one of the most emotional moments of this Sunday’s ceremony, in Dubai, with a heartfelt tribute to Diogo Jota. The former Portuguese international, who passed away in July, was remembered in a special distinction received by his parents, Joaquim and Isabel, in front of a visibly moved audience.
Called to the stage by Jorge Mendes, the footballer’s parents received the award to a long standing ovation. The emotion was impossible to contain, both for the family and for many of those present, with tears on the faces of several world sports figures.
