Camera traps in Thailand have documented unexpected “passers-by” in the jungle. What at first glance looked like ordinary domestic cats turned out to be a zoological rarity upon closer inspection: wild flat-headed cats (Prionailurus planiceps) – an extremely rare species of wild cat that was thought to have long been extinct in Thailand. The species weighs less than half the weight of an average domestic cat and was last seen in Thailand in 1995.
