SP deputies seek electorate of 2022 champions – 12/29/2025 – Panel

Of the 94 parliamentarians from Alesp (São Paulo Legislative Assembly), at least four intend to run for the Chamber of Deputies in the October 2026 election: Major Mecca and Gil Diniz, both from PL, Márcia Lia, from PT, and Guilherme Cortez, PSOL leader in the House.

Mecca and Diniz were elected in 2022, respectively, with 224,462 votes and 196,215 for Alesp.

Now, both are hopeful of inheriting part of the votes from and , who, together, accounted for almost 1.7 million votes in 2022. The congresswoman is imprisoned in Italy, while Jair Bolsonaro’s son 03 is on the run in the United States and is not expected to run in next year’s election.

On the left, Marcia and Cortez are also competing for votes from Guilherme Boulos, the most voted in the state in 2022, with 1,001,472 votes.

Márcia, who is from Araraquara, is very close to PT president, Edinho Silva, and also advocates for the right to housing, just like Boulos.
